What is collected
Essential
Server logs kept by the hosting provider, including IP address, user agent and requested URL. These exist to keep the site running and secure. Legal basis: legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
Analytics
Aggregate statistics about which pages are read, to decide what to write next. No attempt is made to identify individual readers. Legal basis: consent, where cookies are involved. [TODO: confirm which analytics tool is in use.]
Advertising
Google AdSense serves the advertising on this site. Google and its partners may set cookies to serve and measure ads, and may process personal data as described in Google's own privacy documentation. Legal basis: consent. If you decline, you will still see the site; ads will be non-personalised where that option is available.
If you write to the contact address, your message and address are kept to reply and to track corrections. Nothing is added to a mailing list without a separate opt-in.
Your consent choices
Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland are asked before any non-essential cookie is set. You can change or withdraw consent at any time using the privacy settings control on this site, and declining costs you nothing but personalised ads.
Your rights
