Who writes this, and what they are actually qualified to say
I am Haileslassie Lilay Desalegn — a security architect and identity specialist based in Kerava, Finland. I have spent my career on the unglamorous side of financial technology: who can access what, how credentials are handled, and whether a system does what its documentation claims.
Why a security engineer reviews money apps
When you connect a budgeting app to your bank, you are making an access-control decision. Someone is deciding which scopes to request, where to keep the refresh token, which analytics SDKs get to see the transaction stream, and which legal entity is on the hook if it goes wrong. That is the work I do professionally, and it is almost never what app reviews examine.
So this site examines it. Each review opens with an audit record — data access, authentication method, credential storage, provider, regulator, data residency, known incidents — filled in from what I observed with the app in front of me or found in the provider's own filings. Where I could not establish something, the record says so rather than guessing.

Before that, fifteen-odd years across security architecture, SOC operations and identity platform engineering. I hold a BSc in Computer Science and Engineering from Mekelle Institute of Technology. My full work history is on LinkedIn, and I would rather you check it than take my word for it.
What I am not
I am not a financial adviser, and I hold no financial advisory licence in Finland, the EU or anywhere else. I do not tell readers which investments to make, which mortgage to take, or how to allocate savings. Nothing on this site is financial, investment, tax or legal advice.
What I do is assess software: its security posture, its privacy behaviour, its real cost, and whether its claims survive contact with the app itself.
How this site makes money
Display advertising, and in future possibly affiliate links to providers. No provider can pay for a favourable audit record, a better verdict, or inclusion in a comparison. Where a link earns a commission it is disclosed on the page. See the advertising disclosure for the full picture.
Corrections
If something here is wrong, tell me and I will fix it and say what changed. Reviews carry the date they were tested and the app version, because both go stale. Email support@financegadget.com.
